Lua is great for a lot of things from webdev, to game development and scripting, and it gets pretty fucking fast with LuaJIT, which, however, is getting more obsolete by the day since it's stuck at version 5.1. Won't get you a girlfriend though, unless you're into Roblox-obsessed teenagers.

Lua is a nice language that is memed to death because most projects that use it are a meme
But in general I like it, for a scripting language it gets the job done and has a great C api for more if you want to make a highly efficient yet customizable software
