Is there no good browser anymore?

Is there no good browser anymore?
>Firefox eats memory like there's no tomorrow
>Vivaldi is ok but will eventually fall to Manifest v3
>Chrome is google botnet
>Edge is microshit botnet
>Brave is literally a cryptominer
>Anything else is either a firefox pajeet fork or hyper paranoid shit like Tor

The reason why modern browsers consumes lots of memory is:
1 - They cache everything like crazy
2 - web environment is bloated with a bunch of things that shouldn't be used in a interpreted language, browsers are practically mini OS having to control IO and GPUs now

>>Brave is literally a cryptominer
It's literally not, nice FUD

make your own like the rest of us, OP

Vivaldi already said they're going to backport blocking webrequest.

show your browser project pseud

>185 content processes
user what do you fucking expect when you open that many websites?

Anyway, you can visit about:processes to see exactly which site is using the most memory

no, it's top secret and highly confidential. don't want any glowies snooping around.

internet explorer

why is it that whenever i try to disconnect my external hard drive windows says it is being used, but when i close chrome it's okay to remove?

I normally have like 20-30 tabs
I was seeing how high firefox would go
This is more realistic, Firefox has less tabs open yet the RAM is three times higher
Meanwhile Vivaldi, or anything that uses Chromium, only uses a fraction of the ram being used
No the tabs are not the same but this is what I see on average
I've been using Firefox since 2009ish and I don't remember it being this bad
Yes I've done all the troubleshooting and resetting of profiles

I've since upgraded to 32 GB ram so I will stop caring as much but I still don't understand why

Forgot my picture

well, go to about:processes and sort by memory, then open the task manager in vivaldi to see how much memory the same site uses.

on my machine, a single youtube tab takes 140mb in firefox and ...141m in chrome, pretty much the same.

How about Opera?

opera is a chrome skin now, its not like the old presto engine days where it beat everything else in memory usage

Huh, one tab open and it still uses 1.4GB
A restart of the browser brings this down to 581 MB, which is still less then Vivaldi's 646 MB and its 27 or so tabs.

Nigger why are extensions using 500MB

>Windows screenshot
Epic bait

If I didn't accidentally exit the browser I could've looked into it
The most I see is extensions using 150 MB right now

ClearURLs is a memory hog. Firefox actually has it built-in now, you can save some memory by disabling it and setting privacy.query_stripping.enabled to true in about:config (it might already be on since you're using dev edition)

>privacy.query_stripping.enabled
it was off but that's neat it's inbuilt
RAM usage didn't go down much but any bit helps

13Gigs? Do you have 200 tabs open or what?

Maybe a bitcoin miner
