Are black boxes a thing of the past?

With starlink, can't they just upload in real time everything that is happening inside the airplane?

It would be impossible to happen the same thing the malasyia airline flight had where nobody knew where the airplane was.

but, its orange.

They didn’t want to be racist

MAS370 had obvious onboard tampering. They ignored cockpit calls, turned off their location thingy and more. The only reason we have any idea what happened to the plane was through radio magic and satcom pings which they couldn't turn off.

Starlink wouldn't do jack shit if we had another Malaysia flight incident.

did trump design that?

>engines lose power
>starlink no longer has power

Even if you wanted to power it with batteries, planes can theoretically glide for quite long distances if they have engine failures at high altitudes. So i doubt you'd fit enough batteries to run starlink for 30+ minutes.

Satcom antennas can malfunction, or not get signal because of a storm, or whatever. Live satellite tracking would be a good thing but data recorders should still be used.

Aircraft are built with multiple layers of redundancy. They would not replace a tech that just works for a tech that might work. Sure they may add something similar in the future but they won't be getting rid of the black box.

What are batteries fucktard?

what is reading comprehension?

He literally said what would happen if using batteries retard, also, do you think batteries don't add weight? Those are too heavy and you don't want too many on an aircraft.

Oh hey, Mentour Pilot did a video on this

no gaben did

>starlink energy consumption = 100 watts

oh nonononon, we don't have notebooks that have the power consumption of 100 watts that lasts for more than 30 minutes.

Maybe supplement a traditional black box with realtime uploading, but don't replace it. A black box is a very robust and reliable device, unlike modern electronics, and doesn't rely on an internet connection that could get interrupted.

That's why it have this thing.

A laptop battery can run a 100 W load for 30-60 minutes. But you're installing something into a fucking airplane, you're not exactly limited to the size and weight of a laptop.

oh that's neat, which airplanes have these

Yes. It's the standard feature.

so you can find it easier at the crash site.

>hurr its orange lets make a political comment

No its orange because of this.
