My best friend of 13 years is turning trans. I fucking hate this trend so much. He wants me to call him a different name, different pronouns, despite the fact he looks and talks like a man. He's my best friend still but I hate how the world has made him think he needs to transition to a girl.
He even says "I've had thoughts about this for 6-7 years". I truly doubt that. I know the transgender explosion happened in around 2014 but I never once heard him mention it. I talk to him practically every day, he never said any shit like this before. The only feminine quality he has is longish hair.
I asked him if he was going to get surgery or HRT and he said he doesn't want either. He says he's fine with a dick and can't be bothered to go through the health system to get HRT.
How the fuck can he expect people to treat him as a girl when he had a dick, looks like a man, and had a deep voice?

Hell, your friend could get HRT for tits and chop their dick off, and they'd *still* be a male/man - just one who has engaged in body modification.
You don't need to change a damn thing about how you interact with your friend if you don't want to. If your friend demands you change things, then you need to examine if your friend is actually a friend any more.
