with the plethora of articles about how unfun sex is for women I don't understand why there is any conflict about this. literally just frig off and don't have sex. condoms cause serious anaphylactic shock in both men and women and sizing is inconsistent and can cause skin irritation and lead to unwanted pregnancy. there are good reasons not to use certain prophylactics in specific situations, but in most cases birth control is the better choice.

An awful lot of women take birth control primarily to manage their period discomfort.
As a contraceptive, the purpose is enjoyable sex. If the contraceptive makes sex less enjoyable, then it rather defeats the purpose.
(condoms also serve as STD prophylactics where the pill does not, and is frankly unmatched in that regard, so as a STD defense it makes more sense)
If and when a relatively low risk and effective male contraceptive pill comes out, I'll be very happy to take it regularly.
Once I've had one more kid, I'll probably get a vasectomy too.
But condoms do actually suck in a long term monogamous relationship.
