Is dual core good for a basic next cloud server? I've been searching for a cheap computer and this type of computer always pop up dirt cheap

Have that exact same cooler on one of my machines, also running a Core 2 Quad.

Core 2 Quad seems to just run forever without issues.

i'm not against using a c2d or c2q in today's age but isn't it a bit slow in windoze?
i used a q6600 for 4 years while i was making a six figure salary, this was around 4 years ago though.
i always had a terrible experience with older athlon processors, isn't yours running too hot & too slow? atleast that was my experience with them.

full-disk encryption is so cheap as to be computationally free - if your CPU is recent enough to have encryption-acceleration support. (that is, AES-NI; roughly, Sandy Bridge and newer, with some caveats) If you don't have it, even on an SSD you have heavy CPU load to write to disk, which is slow as a result.

Or you can forego disk encryption. Understandable for a desktop, but for a laptop (where the machine might be stolen while powered off; exactly the thing that FDE defends against) you probably want it.

I have a spare computer with the same hardware, but windows feels a little slow on it, i installed loonix mint.
