I do what I need to do but I don't overwork myself, it's more than enough.
I have yet to start gambling at the gold saucer, but I think that before doing that I'll reach lvl 60 first, or at the very least complete all the blue quests before moving to HW.

It's not really gambling, it's more or less a lottery and minigames.
There's a few hairstyles and costumes available from it, but that's largely it.
Most of the blue quests unlock levequests or dungeons.
