Why do programmers and webdevs lie about their wages more than any other occupation?

Why do programmers and webdevs lie about their wages more than any other occupation?
It's actually embarrassing to see a code monkey try and pretend he's making bank when he has a shit house, shit car and eats butter noodles every day
It's like you guys know you're in an awful line of work and cope by lying your asses off.

In California at least, it's pretty normal to not have shit even with a hefty paycheck.

They're saving up for when they age out of the industry, retiring at 35.
Meanwhile, you will work until the day you drop dead.

Keep coping desk slave you don't make jack shit and you know it.
Well yeah that's kinda what I'm getting at here,
>HOLY HECKIN SZECHUAN SAUCE IM MAKING 120K A YEAR
>60k goes to rent
>20k goes to basic foodstuffs
k goes to car payments and insurance
It's embarrassing that losers like just straight up like to themselves about their wages meanwhile me, making a hair under 100k a year in middle america, love like a king.

I walk around like a bum, drive an old car and make 100k. I can retire in 4 years if I want.

They ARE making bank, which is immediately burned on the Bay Area's extremely high cost of living.

i just started, make 100k, pay under 30k for rent, paid for car in cash years ago, and live happy
won't ever be able to buy a house though, unless market crash but I'm coping

it's true. I am poor webdev. wtf is happening

I'm sure you do buddy
Cost of living is a massive factor, you're not making bank if it all goes to basic living expenses. People making 15 an hour in a low income area have the same, if not better quality of life than you do
Good for you?

You got scammed. I was in college for a CIS degree and dropped out when I started talking to people actually I'm the industry and how the hours to wage scale *actually* works, not what they tell you here and on reddit, but the ACTUAL pay is just meager

>like to themselves
>love like a king
lol

im a filthy phoneposter lel

It's why you should always ask them where they live (and trust them not to lie about this). Believing random internet posters when it comes to money will ALWAYS lead you wrong. People online are far more honest about their mental illnesses than they are their finances.

what are you so angry about you stupid asshole? are you jealous you don't get to make as much? i'm starting at 150k in the bay soon and my paycheck is just going to get bigger year by year. feel free to dilate

>in they bay

150k is basically right above poor then

average salary in the bay is $72,000. if you can't survive off 6 figures in the bay you're retarded anyway. if you can't understand that you're paying for proximity to opportunity then i doubt you would be able to understand many other things

> make 100k
> can't afford house
I'm glad I live in a flyover state

Keep coping

what's wrong with noodles?

It's always funny seeing threads on Any Forums claiming programmer salaries are fake/a cope when my coworkers at Amazon all drive BMWs, Telsas or Porsches.

Developers in NYC with 150k salary make the same (if not more) as developers with 55k salary who live in texas texas. Im talking about net profit ofc.

When you ask those larps where they rent out their place or where they live they start seething because what they make realistically is fraction of their salary.
