Anyone here with reverse engineering as part of their job? Malware analysts, pen testers, that kind of stuff. How is it in the long term? How much challenge and variety is there to it? Does it get repetitive and boring?
Also what percentage of time of your time would you say actually consists of reversing?

I want to make the switch from dev, but I'd like to hear the opinions of some anons.

Anybody with a graphics rendering related job? Like working with OpenGL and such?

yes but it's worth it

> Have Audio Engineering degree, ended up getting a semi easy dead end job at audio electronics company but have Engineer in title (proper engineer not audio engineer). Decided I sorta hate this shit so starting part time CS degree this year.

Should I just start applying for junior Dev roles like a year or two into this degree? Once I get semi fluent in a couple languages?

Can't really take doing this for another 5ish years and doubt I could fake it at another electronics firm.

what's the difference between a business analyst, data analyst and data scientist. Also how easy is it to jump from one position into the other?

Have you ever known someone who got fired for introducing a bug at work?

>JS outearns C++
Why have I learnt this stupid lang again

its over

>ITT: salaries from 2019

If you aren't a codecamping larper, you should make more than any number on this list in current year

>business analyst
Excel jockey, you'll be asked to make spreadsheets for boomers who don't know what a standard deviation is.

>data analyst
This is so broad it could mean anything at all. It could be Rhadondha putting emails into separate boxes or could be more technical.

>Data scientist
You better know how to use SQL, R, Python, and either Snowflake or Databricks. If you haven't at least taken a few stats classes, you won't get far

No, but I can imagine it being necessary if the bug is the result of extreme retardation and it costs many millions of dollars.

What do you think is a fair salary increase when going from Junior dev to semi-senior, and to senior? 10, 15% more?
And to team lead?

>Captcha 250HR
Heh

Junior dev is typically 1-3 years of experience. You should start working on projects now or take internships.

>be me
>intern at company
>they're not gonna give return offer: gotta apply to full time roles for fall
>friend said they check github
>fuck
>projects on resume are fake/made up/exaggerated
I got to find a way to do these three quickly, cause I'm tired of waiting to apply for jobs. I know first one is easy, I have done before and it's quick, second was sort of tricky and third I never did any before. My game plan is 1 -> 3 -> 2

I'm the same guy that wrote in the last post about whether accepting a counter offer or not. I have to give an answer tomorrow and I can't still decide what to do. All this situation arose because I was looking for more money so accepting the counter offer looks like the most rational choice (knowledge of the codebase, trust in my boss and coworkers and better pay without having to bother accommodating in a new job). However this is a good opportunity to move and despite that I was just looking for more money, there are some things in my current company that don't look good: the company has been working for two years in the product (I have been here for almost a year and half ) and we haven't had our first MVP nor there are real clients using the app yet. Some persons have been fired too and management is trying to reduce costs (we switched from slack to discord for example). The CEO promised to don't touch the development team but still the thing feels shaddy. The MVP doesn't look close because that first client keeps asking for random shit and there are various crucial technical problems yet to solve. Some senior developers have left too so I don't know man. If the thing were just about my immediate boss and coworkers I would happily stay but the general state of the company is uncertain.

That's ok, it's the game devs who work for "passion" rather than money who are bringing our average down

Besides, talking about the other company I'm planning to move, I was recommended by a ex coworker there, I have already signed a contract and I even counteroffered their first offer. According to my friend the product there is in better state and they already have clients using the product. They have stronger investors too. What scares me of moving is the obvious fear of the new and uncertain and the thought of ending working in any random language. I was approached with the promise of working as a golang developer but is pretty probably to have to write some python or java (not that bad I guess, new experiences and tools).

And If I decide to stay at my current job, since I have a signed contract and was recommend by a friend, I guess I would have to burn the bridge brutally
