You know you don't have to only pick one or the other, right?

Turned mine into an emulation machine. Struggling to get Saturn working on it though and running into issues with PS3. Spent more time dicking around then playing it but impressed with what I played so far.

minetest isn't on steam.

>playing games outside
why
>playing desktop pc games outside
literally why
this didnt work for the psp 20 years ago and the vita 10 years ago

Did you know there are ways other than Steam to install software?

This product will never be successful if they still can't manage to hide Linux terminal garbage from appearing during the update process.

oh, that's cool. can it run other distros that aren't steamOS or whatever it's called?

You can add it as a non-Steam game, or launch it from the KDE desktop. I refuse to believe you are this retarded.
Yes. It's a PC.

you can boot into a full KDE desktop environment from the power button menu

Yes. It can also run Windows. It's just a handheld computer. But even SteamOS doesn't restrict what software you can install or from where.

What happens if you run sudo -rm rf / --no-preserve-root on a Steam Deck?

threw mine in the bin.

Then you've deleted the OS and need to reinstall, just like on any other computer.

i can play with my deck in bed under the covers

Are you a child staying up playing video games or something?

Well it uses an A/B type partitioning scheme and I believe the root file system is mounted as read only.
Best case scenario you only wipe your home folder
Mid case scenario you wipe one of the root partitions and it boots to the other one.
Worst case you need to reinstall
