I wasted all that time, and just gave up. Formatted the partition. I'll take my chances with steam beta and proton. That was just a soul crushing experience. I remember windows 7 being so good.
Why dont you use headless copy of VirtualBox. Just download an is image and mount the iso. Take a snapshot. Then see why it's fucking up with a hex editor running live against the executive in a step by step.
