Are there any downsides of using Ungoogled Chromium as my main browser?

are there any downsides of using Ungoogled Chromium as my main browser?

Seems perfectly "plain" with no BS pre-included like other browsers but I see people recommending Brave and stuff, why use that over this?

Ungoogled + uBlock Origin

>+ uBlock Origin
at least for a couple more months

You may as well just use Brave

It doesn't support add-ons OOTB.

For me, it's Firefox Developer Edition + uBlock Origin

i switched to brave after comparing it with ungoogled on a bunch of fingerprinting tests but desu im considering switching back
brave is kinda slow especially when im doing other shit on my pc at the same time as browsing. i also notice webpages getting stuck on loading far more often

TL:DR
is more private, but less secure.

Up for debate that it's more private if you turn everything off anyway.

The normal Chrome has components not included in Chromium, for example it reads the computer name for Google account management

Agghh god!
I have to come and explain you raging autists the big picture again.
Google doesn't compete with the chromium forks.
Why is that?!
You get it now?

FUCK EVERYTHING CHROMIUM THEY CAN CHOKE ON ME NUTS!

The downside is that it doesn't save your account presets

Use Firefox or one of its forks. Anything Chromium based, including Brave, will have adblocking broken by Manifest v3. Firefox is implementing Manifest v3 but also maintaining WebRequest to maintain uBlock Origin.

In Chrome you wont even be able to use Violentmonkey/Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey

It takes like 2 or 3 clicks to enable it though
If thats the only downside, then thats not really a downside at all

What does Brave do that Ungoogled Chromium cant do with a few extensions though?

While controversial at first, fuck uBlock.

I'm using my own private VPN with tailscale (or headscale if you're a schizo) and routing all my traffic through the pihole DNS, thus getting no ads no matter where i go, always included the second i turn on my VPN
I recomend anons. Good stuff.

Just things like anti-fingerprinting. Extensions are limited and can only affect things in minor and unique ways. It's also better to not rely on extensions for security reasons. To be honest though, any browser plus a hardened uBlock Origin is the way to go. There is really no reason to use Ungoogled Chromium over Brave.

nas coal albeit

>including Brave, will have adblocking broken by Manifest v3
This is not true. Brave's ad blocking is done natively so won't be affected. This only affects extensions.

the lack of official builds, otherwise it's decent, makes zero background connections on launch too
