When will we abandon the 16:9 menace?
When will we abandon the 16:9 menace?
where my 5:4 poorfag niggers at
low iq, baboon energy
When you fools realized 8:5 is best.
im still using 16:10 1920x1200 ips lcd from 2008
as soon as people stop using phones
16/10 is best, cause it's closest to the golden ratio.
post monitor specs
I am at 43" 4k and can have 16:10 or any other tall aspect ratio at a moments notice. Aspect doesn't matter as much as absolute res
I'm still using my old ass 1280x1024 monitor
Meh. Laptops and tablets need 4:3 or 3:2. But with desktop monitors, ridiculous sizes and resolutions are readily available for cheap these days, so who cares? Don’t tell me you‘re lacking vertical space on something like a 16:9 4k display at 32in.
This.
Once you have plenty of pixels none of this really matters.
I just want the same resolution and aspect ratio as my TV so I can mirror the screen instead of having to switch or extent.
So 4K 16:9 is fine.
Say you have a 1600x1200 display (which is actually a really nice resolution)
There’s nothing that stops you from getting a 1920x1200, though, so you get all those vertical pixels, just with some extra space on the sides.
>muh magic number
kys faggot
I love 1920x1200
allows you to play a lot of old games in their highest standard res (1600x1200)
and comes close to 1920x1080 for everything else
bring back 16:10
I wish 21:9 became the new standard.
I wish sqrt(2):1 existed so A4 sheets would fit on my vertical screen.
The real question is, are display ratios better represented as positive or negative harmonics?
The three common resolutions are all undertonal and work best when the width is a power of two, while something like 5:4 works best if the height is a power of two.
Totally agree.
It would also make it nicer to place half-sized screens vertically to both sides.
It's starting to get adopted in the gamer laptop space
As they attempt to make them more appealing they are making models that can pass at a starbucks with that ratio.
Why did we not opt for 2048x1152 instead of 1080p for full HD? The latter is a perfect doubling of PAL height.
honestly 21:9 is quite nice
16:10 is the best, most productive and most beautiful ratio, you cannot prove me wrong
here
on my 43" panel, 1440p, 1080p, and 720p all look exactly like I remember. Scaling isn't an issue for true high res panels.
>a screen size that exists literally because of retarded desktops environments
