Saw enough shills and finally decided to give picrel a try

How do people put up with a straight up pile of shit? Now that I think of it, it's just ridiculous you need to go through a tutorial to use a text editor. It's like yeah you built your wall garden but no thanks

i edit text on notepad++ since 2010, dont know why people who are new into coding are like that

Wait until you hear you have to install any color coded text that is not lisp.
As far as I'm concerned its either neovim with plugins or vscode. That's it.

gpt3 post

Enable CUA mode (it's right there in the menubar) and it will work just as well as notepad or some other shit you're used to. Keybindings are there for whenever you don't want to move your hand to the mouse, but you don't have to use them.

What the fuck does this even mean? Was this post unirionically written by a bot?

I can see why they are so defensive when someone attacks Emacs. They put so much time into it and they need to justify their effort. Same as people who use MacOS, they are so deep in the ecosystem that they don't even bother looking for alternatives

>Comparing faggotry boomer tech like emacs to apple

Listen faggots, the world doesn't care that you know how to program aka spend 90% of your day writing to a glowing rock to make it to do stuff. If your program requires you to learn how to program in order to use it, it's fucking worthless and will never reach mass adoption. We value our time so we use other solutions.

Fine, what are these alternatives?

a programmer who doesn't enjoy programming deserves to burn out

post quality is so shit it ain't even gpt3

Emacs is great it just has a learning curve. If you throw shit out because of the first hiccup then all your going to get is babies first text editor. The command to go back is alt-v they usually call it meta. Also you can use c-p to move backwards.

lmao I switched to macos after using windows/linux the majority of my life and i’m never fucking looking back

>Use c-p

Confirmed emacs users are pedo

>people saying "i value my time" unironically on fucking 4chins
classic

Install this, instead of autistically configuring emacs for days to be not fucking shit
Like just use the config crowdsourced by a bunch of people much smarter than you and move on with your life

Bonus: It makes it a flawless vim emulator (best I've ever seen)

Control previous.

What does doom offer that emacs doesn't? It seems to be all you did was add a bunch of unnecessary bloat to the editor.

>What does doom offer that emacs doesn't?
Carefully chosen melpa plugins and configuration, including all the vim emulation ones (evil etc.), all pre-configured to work nicely with each other

Supposedly the purpose of emacs is to be an ultra configurable environment that you can mould into anything you like. I'm not Richard Stallman and can't be assed with that shit. So I just take something much better someone else already made with a focus on being vim-like above all
