Uses for a somewhat underpowered computer?

I have a mini pc like picrel, has something like an i3 with 4gb of ram. What can I use it for?

sell residential proxy access to third world spammers

It would make a very nice OPNSense / pfSense firewall/router.
- low power
- x86
- usb 3.0 (for additional network interfaces)

If it has a thunderbolt port you could try combining it with a sata enclosure and using it as a fileserver, but I'd say it isn't ideal for that.

Tell me more. I've compromised something like 28+ residential wifi connection with no way to monetize it and it's really just been for the laughs up till now.

>OPNSense / pfSense firewall
tell me more about what these do
>you could try combining it with a sata enclosure and using it as a fileserver
how would i go about doing that?

Install Batocera

Perfect for a home server, install docker and run anything on it.
For the file server, there's a bunch of NAS specific distros.

thanks man

scrape the internet

Install a NIC cars and use it as a router basically. You have to get something for wireless though.

why would i want to use it as a router (not being sarcastic, just curious)
good idea
why

HTPC, Barebones hobby project forcing yourself to write the code for the programs you need, Refurb and flip for a profit, some type of low demand server. Install TempleOS

host a tf2 server for /vm/

Make it a nextcloud server, a tor node or you could even mine some types of crypto like monero

:( wth stop it

I won't! Don't worry user I'm not malicious. I just like the challenge but i would like to make some money.

puppy or wireguard

Bitcoin lighting node

Because pfSense is a much better router than something out of the box. More reliable, more secure. And just for fun. Plus you can do all sorts of fun stuff with plugins.

fucking up randoms peoples ip rep & extra bandwidth usage (assuming they get charged for that) probably counts as malicious

residential proxies are also like $5 / month so ur breaking the law for $140/month, not rly wurf

NAS via USB 3 hub + multi-bay docking stations
Adblock DNS server
self hosted radio/music server
self hosted general media server

etc, if you need heavy cpu server capability, check if your CPU can be upgraded, then check if ram can be upgraded. Ebay probably has ton of cheap CPUs that might be compatible.

minecraft server for the boys

Poorman's NAS and seedbox.

How do I protect myself from you? Assuming by compromise you don't mean they didn't set an admin password
