Why does modern search suck so much?

why does modern search suck so much?

I've noticed this too.
I think modern software got too good so now most software development jobs are actually about making the software worse. This creates degradation, decline, stagnation, frustration but more importantly a room for re-hashing a previous innovation and advertising it as something new.
Capital AI has gone mentally ill or something, idk.

it's on purpose like putting milk at the back of the store

This is called product placement, we've been doing this longer than computers have been in most homes.

Those game developers paid more to appear first on the list, not unlike how bigger distributors pay for premium eye height shelf space in supermarkets.

>I think modern software got too good so now most software development jobs are actually about making the software worse.
I've been thinking the same recently
Think about it, how much easier is it to make a fast an good working website compared to 10 years ago? yet somehow most websites are 100x slower than they used to. Same with every modern piece of software it seems.

usually when the software is worse it's because it somehow makes the company more money. executives tell the devs they need x feature for y more engagement and z% more clickthrough. devs implement it, it bloats the software, and nobody really cares.
these days, open source software is usually the fastest and most functional option. because it's made by people who actually use the software.

You wanted the hottest "The" games, and you got them.
You're welcome

...

luckily this still works but you really shouldn't have to do this

I think you're actually right. remove the and i get better results

It's not the only thing they are doing, though
Hollow Knight, Vampire Bloodhunt, Project Zomboid, Hogwarts legacy, Dying Light, Old World seem to feel like "Citadel" to the AI

hollow knight says citadel once in the description

the botnet

because modern search systems don't exist, they've all been replaced with recommendation algorithms. you're not really using a "search", even if it's labelled as such, you're just hinting a preference to the recommendation algo.
it thinks you'll buy "the sims 4" if you see it way more than it thinks you'll buy "the citadel", even with direct interest expressed for the latter, so the order to present results is clear.

relies on filters too much

>it thinks you'll buy "the sims 4"
but i'm not a woman

Learn how to search user
You should always be using things like quotations and minuses when desiring specific results. This isn't new, its been this way for more then 20 fucking years with web searches. Last web search engine that only took literal results was Altavista.

well either they fucked up or the off chance of someone else using the steam account makes this profitable

i didn't say these algorithms are good. most of the time they're fucking terrible, and they're trained to work for the largest lowest-common-denominator majority

search engines should be smart enough to prioritize an exact match without me having to tell it to
