Inb4 the 13700k is the best cpu yet again wtf are Intel doing they haven't made anything I remotely liked after the 7700k which got rekt by my 1600x

My first hard disk was 120MB, and only cost $400. Now THAT'S fucking progress.

How does this look?

Mostly as a workstation for programming,

>efficiency kings

Just get a 5600g if you are just programming

but user don't you want to pay thousands to upgrade to zen4 for 15% improvement in performance?

Swapped 1050ti for 6600XT

6600XT, 10400f, 4 120mm fans, 16 gb ddr4

I have 450W PSU right now, should I really bother with a PSU change?

nah you good. 6600xt barely hits 160w. 10400f is power efficient and can't overclock. those psu calculators assume worst case scenario like everything running at 100% at all times.

>EVGA
no you're prob fine for now until the 3 year warranty expires
just remember after your warranty expires, if your game is randomly crashing or your PC is just straight up shutting down aftrer gaming for a bit, your PSU is tripping tself on load

after my first experience cheaping out with an EVGA bronze PSU, I never cheap out on the PSU anymore. You think it's easy to replace a PSU but when you look back at your PC years down the line, it's basically e-waste at that point and it feels so troublesome to redo all the cables and replace the PSU (might as well just upgrade lol unless you're a poorfag)

Here you go bro, you gonna need it for the 13900KS and the 4090 ti

600mm noctua fans when?

Anyone do the thermal pads on the 3090?

I'm looking for something portable that gets good battery life. It will mostly be used for music, movies, light gaming (mostly indie titles, some older AAA), and internet browsing.

I'm training for my CDL and will be doing OTR (long hauls hence the importance on battery life and portability). I want something new, not used and would prefer to keep it under $2k USD.

I haven't kept up with mobile as I've been a power user for a long time and already have a nice desktop for home use. I'm hoping to find something with the GPU power of a desktop 1050 Ti or greater. Yes I know the 1050 Ti is far from fast but I'm trying to be realistic about the form factor and good battery life.

should I buy a 3060ti or a 6700XT? they're around the same price rn and I don't know man. Consider that I'll build a PC around them soemtimes next year.

by next year new gpus will be out.
go for 7700xt

the 6700xt is faster at 1080p esports faggotry
the 3060ti catches up at 1440p and above, and massively surpasses the 6700xt in games with RT or DLSS
so, if you're a 1080p esportsfag go amd
otherwise go nvidia

>by next year new gpus will be out.
>implying you will be able to buy them.

what about the 8gig of RAM? I've heard that the 3060ti is starting to have some issues with its low ram in some games, is that true?

Not that guy but I game on an RTX 2070 on a high refresh 1440p monitor and I haven't encountered this issue. I play at high settings with max textures.

...

I don't want a thinkpad. Those people are poor and push $90 crack den Pcs. I figured I could get decent advice but guess not.

no, its not an issue at 1440p (or 1080p, obv)
it would be an issue at 4k, but the card isn't fast enough for that anyway

Planning upgrade...

i5 5600 is to i5 12600 as a RTX 470 is to a _____ ?

imo just go for a regular gaming laptop with a 3060 or 3070 mobile
much less expensive that equivalently equipped business class laptops
as far as battery life is concerned, afaik its decent for just browsing/media/etc
obviously if you try to game on it or do anything else computationally expensive, you can expect a couple of hours at most
but do you really need to game without having at least a desk and a power plug at your disposal?

Do you game at high resoloutions? Then you will need more vram, otherwise 8 should be fine for the next few years

fuck your metaphors

if you just want a basic gaming system, go for the 12400
if you also care about multicore perf, upgrade to the 12700 non-k

I mean the gpu

oh, my bad
3060 for 1080p.
3060ti or 3070 for 1440p
3080/ti for 4k.
go up a tier if you wanna try to max out fps in AAA games with very high settings and/or RT.

thanks. how much of a bottleneck will I have with an Intel Core I7 4770S anda computer from 7 years ago? what should I actually expect from these cards? as I told I'm planning to upgrade everything but not until I have enough money.
