It's funny, I've seen more white liberals offended by the use of 'master' in Git than actual minorities. In fact, I don't recall many minorities talking about it at all.

We used different terminology over the years. The main branch was actually called the trunk branch.
In response to GitHub's unsolicited and unprovoked aggression we now name the trunk branch the Trump branch.

As part of solidarity with our coworking People of Color we no longer use "master" in any of our branches. Instead, for every project, we now codename them after famous slave owners and use "plantation" for all of our production branches
