The average Any Forumsentoo user probably doesn't know the technical differences between hardware memory mapping (MMU) and OS memory mapping (mmap)
QRD?
You're NGMI if you think reading some systems porgramming books and using an RPi will get you a job.

Hardware memory mapping is done through the MMU. "Memory" technically refers not just to RAM but to the collective of every MMIO (memory-mapped I/O) device. The MMU controls physical bus switches to change where addresses lead at an electrical level. This is how the kernel accesses buffers on device controllers, such as video memory: the video memory is not a part of RAM, it's a memory chip on the video card, but because of the way it's plugged in, it's still in addressable "memory."
The MMU can also be dynamically reconfigured, as an efficient implementation of the virtual address space, or VAS -- the virtualization layer over RAM that the kernel confines processes to so undefined behavior in one process can't affect others. However, there are some parts of the VAS, such as file mapping, that can't be implemented with the MMU; in the case of file mapping, this is because disk controllers are not random-access. So there's a second layer of memory mapping, software-level memory mapping, where the kernel just fakes it by copying the file into RAM and periodically flushing it back to disk in the background.
dont care didnt read. linux just works for me is all i care
It wasn't an attack you fucking autist. I use gentoo too. OP asked for some things the average user doesn't know about technology so I gave them one, I'm just answering a question, it's not a fucking diss you peabrained little twat.
that I wanna destroy your tight cunny
uoh
Linux is a kernel
a lot
i have no idea why haskell is so easy to do cool things with. but, i do know that functional programming is for pseuds :/
Nintendo 64 had an official way to upgrade its RAM and Donkey Kong 64 came with the RAM upgrade module that attaches to the console.
He doesn't know I'm gonna put this thread back to the front baybee, o yeah!
Miyako and her consequences have been beneficial to the loli community.
I would like to Noa lot more about web dev, is it still possible to develop entirely in vanilla js? I mean, there are still some people that develop only with JQuery and PHP, but modern javaScript has implemented pretty much all JQuery functionality natively, so there's no reason to keep using it. I've been playing around with vanilla js building games and stuff, and I've gotten some stars on gh, and while it's certainly a bit annoying having literally dozens of lines of document.createElement(), I think it's quite workable once you get used to it. Plus I keep hearing people complain that frameworks keep breaking stuff every four months, which makes me wonder if all the demand for web dev nowadays is only pretty much bs jobs consisting of duck tapping the many issues that can be avoided by simply not using a framework if the project isn't big enough to really need it.
