why would robot maids have to be bipedal?
a more stable 4 legged platform would be ideal for the home environment, and a pair of "hand" appendages would be able to do the same things as a pair of arms.

Because bipedal robot maids are sexier
says your limited brain structure.
Why do they have to have legs in the first place? A quad/hexcopter based platform
> Can dock in high out of sight places
> reach everything from floor to ceiling
> have an acceptable payload capacity
> can thrust vector
> can fly high to avoid collisions with people and animals
> can have enough thrust to open doors and cupboards
> easy to build and code using cots or foss/oshw components
not enough payload capacity for larger objects
and energy consumption
this is your brain on primate propaganda
Why would they even have legs and not tentacles?
because tentacles are shit for movement on dry land
Because we can barely make a leg as is.
Even if they're self-lubricating?
>tfw we could have robot anime monster girls right now but everyone is too busy trying to make bipedal robots that dont fall into the uncanny valley
It kinda sucks to know that we'll waste our lives never seeing something that was possible to build since at least 2010.
I absolutely agree.
We need pony waifu bots before human waifu bots.

Until you give the quadrupedal one hooves.
You can strap a fleshlight to the back.
Why are you niggers like this?
Their kind snowpitties, their cute faces, and their sexy bodies.
Let's face it, they're the whole package.
They're not wrong. It's the right move to take for people who are actually interested in progressing robotics instead of sitting around having armchair debates about the uncanny valley. Bitching about some pie in the sky ideal for the last twenty years has gotten you weebs nowhere meanwhile the real advancements are happening with companies who dont give a fuck about making a robot look human.
You could build a pony robot in under a year or two with todays tech and materials. For a human passing robot you'd be able to make the bipedal skeleton in two years and then waste the rest of your life trying to fight uncanny valley.
Honestly there's something about the whole ecosystem of G4 ponies (not horses, not G5, just the G4 specifically) that fills a hole in my soul I didn't know I had before. Even if you look past waifu faggotry, it's super adorable to watch the episodes, read greentexts, shitpost with other anons about these characters. There's definitely a fair share of winking towards adult audience, which makes it bearable to watch, compared to other kids shows. Maybe give it a try, once you stop thinking it's cringe to obsess over a cartoon for children as a 40yo man (male) user, chances are it will excite you so.
That, and /mlp/ is consistently ahead of Any Forums in terms of technology, so they've already got one step towards pony robots - voice synthesis, see 15.ai. Some Ruskies were independently making a Sweetie robot, but I didn't follow that and don't know what's the progress.
