Anyway, the non-meme answer is recursion is when a function calls itself.

Something that calls multiple processes of itself in an extremely inefficient way that eventually causes the stack to be overloaded and crash your computer in extreme cases.

It is when I overflow your mom's stack

When something is defined in terms of itself, that's recursion.

The only practicality of a recursive function is intentional malice, like pushing another program's functions off of the stack altering functionality.
