Faster Route Available

why has maps technology become so terrible

Because Google is too woke to ever allow Maps to have a "Avoid Niggers" setting.

Not my problem

I'm actually working on my own routing engine right now using US Census TIGER lines and OpenStreetMap. This probably wouldn't be that hard to add. Would there be a market for it?

I'd love the option when I'm walking/biking for sure.

Interesting. I've been focused mostly on truck routing (the reason I'm building my own engine). In comparison, walking/biking should be dead fucking easy because I wouldn't need to worry about turn restrictions or bridge heights or other such bullshit. A walking/biking routing system that avoids areas with lots of negros could be stood up in a weekend by someone familiar with the technology involved.

I would absolutely be interested in something like that. You have to name it something innocuous like "scenic route" but I'm sure there's a huge market for it. Ironically mostly from the people who would throw a fit if they knew what it actually meant.

Got a donation page or GitHub page for it? I'd be willing to put down a few bucks towards it.

I get gas long before I need it when on road trips to unknown locales literally just to avoid getting gas where there's higher quantities of niggers. I HATE niggers, user.

I actually have the opposite problem. It's 2022 and there's still not a single navigation tool that utilizes back roads. Coming off the highway I always turn one block early because that street is way faster. Getting directions in advance? Always directed to the (slower) main road instead. Getting real-time navigation? Always yelled at and being told to take the next left so I can instead travel down the (slower) main road. Whenever I'm driving with someone from out of town and I tell them to turn off their GPS and let me give them directions I feel like I'm in the fucking 90s. Seriously, what gives?

It never has never occurred to me before that anyone might want walking/cycling directions. I'm still mostly focused on my truck routing thing, but I might consider standing up a walking/cycling routing thing (could run entirely off TIGER lines + PL94-171 data from the US Census), I'll try to mention it here.
