And Chrome*

They literally said
>We are looking for a way to allow user script managers to continue working, ideally in a more secure way. While we already had a userScripts API, its API would have to change to stay reliable in MV3. Since the API had to change anyway, we are re-examining its design, trying to reach an interoperable API that enables extension developers to build cross-browser user script managers.

>We are looking for
>ideally in a more secure way
>its API would have to change to stay reliable
What this means is that they'll release a very limited API in around 2028, which offers no real functionality at all.

It was evident, Google pays them all the money.

They just mean "injecting content scripts without leaking shit to other processes" which means very mild changes, at worst. This is all on bugzilla, they're not hiding anything

That's fucking retarded, I wrote all the userscripts that I run myself.
They might as well just include a userscript manager in the browser. Other browsers do it (Midori, Falkon, Bromite)

chrome never did anything about ublock or tampermonkey. kys.

This is the bug they're trying to fix
bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1703299
No, fixing it does not require killing userscript managers, the api will probably have to change slightly to prevent leaking information and breaking site isolation
>presently, we are sending what appears to be all content scripts to all content processes. This seems unnecessary and inefficient; and in certain circumstances I could see it leaking cross-origin data

>He's not using brave
Gtfo retard

>shitty Any Forumstard post spreading FUD about firefox
>in the end mozilla isn't doing anything wrong
every time
I'll stick to firefox.

Will this affect ublock origin?

No. Mozilla is maintaining advanced request manipulation in MV3

kek, anons warned you about this and you didn't listen. Mozilla just does the same thing Google does but hides behind a "security" boogeyman as an excuse.

What this means in reality: we do not want you to use scripts that add functionality we require a payment to use, and we do not want you to download random media from the internet or watch it in MPV, avoiding all the ads.
We (as in Google) just forbid you to do things, but we (as in Mozilla) are looking for ways to restore some botched functionality to it, just like it was with XUL and WebExtensions, which does not really mean anything as we may change our opinion 6 months later and call out userscripts as a security nightmare that has to be abandoned (like it was with XUL).
You know, if they really cared about any of that they would simply reject the Manifest.

Not viable, some semblance of compatibility is required to ease porting addons, ignoring what chrome does entirely just means more chrome lock-in

>pleaseee listen to us we don't want to switch to muh proprietary stop cucking us

kek, open sores simps have no backbone, just use chrome bro

For now...

why is google dictating the future direction for web browsers?

/thread
It happens literally every time. Brave shills maybe.

>killing violentmonkey
based.
hopefully they kill more of them

cool it with the anti semitism

>simply reject the Manifest
They can't. Don't you see? They made the choice to kill XUL extensions and play follow-the-leader in 2015. Now the leader's jumped off a cliff, and there's only so much they can do to soften the landing.
