Come on, internet should be free. How can I make a website the old school way?
I want to have a completely free web domain
Data ain't free. Pay up fucker.
what if I have a spare PC?
Just pay for a domain name, self-host.
I'd bet a lot of the fucks here don't recall when Any Forums was a stack of Mac Minis in Moot's mom's house.
What the fuck is a Mac Mini?
Wanna hear an app idea I have?
someday we'll have a decentralized mesh-internet where we call piggyback directly off of each other, just wait for that
>create .html file
>open in browser
What more do you need?
Im pretty sure that's how the internet was built
Well, you're not gonna get a free web domain but you can just forward the ports on your router and share your IP address like they did in the old days
>forward the ports on your router and share your IP address like they did in the old days
>old days
I still keep my my desktop in my router's DMZ after all these years. I have nftables configured, it's fine.
Wish my friends would stop being lazy asses and open up their UDP ports though.
>you're not gonna get a free web domain
*scoffs*
freenom.com
Github pages, firebase, heroku
use ipv6 address as your domain name
neocities for static hosting
>I want to have a completely free web domain
You actually can, on one of these domain zones:
>.tk
>.ml
>.ga
>.cf
>.gq
Tte only problem is that no one's gonna take you seriously. If you really wanna do it, see
freenom has a very limited TLD selection and you never actually own the domain. once your website gets popular they have a history of pulling the domain out from under you.
use tor, fagget
freedns afraid org
>Get it now!
>Click on it
>Not available
What the fuck?
if you can't pay 2.50$/month for a vps, you don't deserve to be online. And I bet there are even cheaper options
A VPS capable of supporting more traffic than you will likely get is $5-$10/month, and there are other hosting platforms.
Domain names cost almost nothing per year.
IF you dont have $15/month (or less) to dedicate to this you are a shitter.
