i wouldve considered it but i also need a dedicated gpu just in case my work needs gpu work on the go

Don't care why you need, it's your choice. If your budget is 1k then look at the Lenovo Legion 5 on Amazon and Ebay. Probably the best you can get at that price point and there are tons of configurations available. Around the $950 - $1,100 price point you should be able to get at least 16GB of RAM, a Ryzen 4800H - 5800H processor, a 512GB - 1 TB SSD, and a mobile 1660ti (at minimum) up to a mobile 3060 ti. Just shop around until you find the best you can get within your price range. Just note that unless you aim to have the thing constantly plugged in, you might wanna buy the larger battery for it and if you do the second M.2 slot is going to be covered by it and unusable.
