I just don't see the point in using GNU/Linux for the average casual computer user.
How would you pitch GNU/Linux to someone who is not an enthusiast or power-user?

not windows

linux by default is a faster facebook loader than windows

Konqi a best

Totally free, just werks

>Totally free
I don't know a person who bought windows

It's faster, better and free.

OEM licenses are included in the cost of a laptop/prebuilt.

The solution is to not give average users computers. See youtube.com/watch?v=oogShOkv87c

As long as they didn't hand someone cash for a disc, they didn't feel like they paid for that license.

That's the point of this fraud: to exploit ignorance to create a self-sustaining monolithic system of abuse.

Okay but if you tell them that GNU/Linux is free then they're going to ask if their next Dell will be cheaper and the answer is no.

I would tell the non-enthusiast / non-power user to quit being a luddite and to pick up a fucking book because the stone ages ended and they appeared to miss the memo.

doesn't need create a Microsoft account

id fuck that latinx mutt, wont lie

Doesn't hold your computer hostage like windows 10 and even more so 11 do for things such as trying to force accounts, updates (most updates at least in my case on linux mint I never have to restart the whole computer) etc. Also you can reuse a still decent but old computer thus saving money and less enviromental e-waste.

Linux could be the difference betweem replacing your laptop and getting an extra year out of it. The latter is what OEMs are afraid of. They want you buying the newest thing whether you actually need it or not, hence why there's so much random bloatware.

Windows boots faster.

I won't fix your computer problems unless you use Linux, simple as.
Right now my fathers use it and they have absolutely no issue with it, I got them LMDE 4

>faster
Meh, really, it's pretty much the same speed as any OS clean install.
>better
Once you get familiar with console commands, and accept that you'll probably have to read some documentation for any action you could do in a few clicks on windows.
>free
windows is 10$, free if it's an upgrade or a new pc. It's about how you value your time.

I use linux at work because I only do programming, but I'll never use it on my personal time.
It wasn't designed to be a user-friendly os in the first place.

The average person just can't be arsed to put up with shit randomly breaking and software incompatibility. Preinstalled bloatware just needs to be removed once.

No random updates
No random bootloops
Shittop from 2010 that maxes cpu on idle might become usable
