while my room was full of computer parts and electronic junk from the 90's, my sister just went from a landline phone to a cellphone to a smartphone, by the time she left home she didn't even own a laptop
many people really just want something to communicate with others, it was never about the means or the technology

People want to feel unique and non conformist to fit in with their peers here
Growing up as a late 80's kid everyone was fucking wowed by the first smartphone in my family but there's just a general sect of younger people who think they're hip for fitting in with the general g mindset of hating new technology
Some people think they contributed to some sort of self proclaimed "downfall of society" but people said the same about television
It's just baffling to me some people make it their second livelihood to point out how they don't use a smartphone or any new piece of tech
I still use my old compaq since I'm not much of a game player but I can still see the benefit of why you'd want a computer in your pocket, I remember when they killed pda's
