VPNs don't do shit for anonymity retard. Mullvad is the normie "best" option but there are much better "scene" alternatives that may or may not be fed owned by now

My data.

Threat model is im on a public network for my apartment.
I'm also paranoid about my data getting out from my personal laptop. Im just paranoid in general.
I'm working in the csec field so i guess my paranoia stems from what i know about how much data gets out.

Yep. All my neighbours IoTs connected and god knows what else (have not started scanning desu)
The admin have their own private network but again i dont know all 200 of my neighbours and the admins opsec behaviour.

Almost all websites these days use HTTPS. For the most part other users on the WiFi can see the IP addresses your computer connects to (they probably don't know it is your computer). They can not see the contents of the pages or what kind of videos you download.

I have no sociel media, dont upload shit about myself, right noe my packets are going out freely, i tried to avoid http sites to keep my connection secure.
Still fiddling around with linux so i can use iptables for a firewall but having issues getting the wifi drivers installed and i have been lazy.
Device is windows 11 (didnt have a choice) and not happy about having to create an account to use it (new accounts with very little activity on it).
Using librewolf which deletes my session data but i still wish to use youtube for tech tutorials.
Interested in pentesting as well, but i got s feeing you want me to outright say i want to commit crimes.

Sure. Use tor, p2p encrytion, but my device is still being used. I dont have a separate device for dark web activity alone.
But going back to a vpn, i dont want my ip out there or if i accidently get my ip logged for clicking on a dodgy link by accident.

Wireshark http sites, ftp, telnet etc. I also have no idea what my neighbours are capable of.
