Do you know every technical aspect of all the technology you use every day?
Do you still benefit from and enjoy having it?
There's your answer.

I "love" my gf - but primarily, I want to fuck her.
What's up with that?

some people think they like technology but in really what they like is coomsuming technology, this is a common mistake when so many highschool dropout ex-retailers run cheap advertisement channels in order to promote products and constantly tell people that they care about the tech and yet manage to never talk about it, quite ironic and yet very effective...
people find bits of themselves in their sandwichmen and think they also like technology.
>wahou, I know what a gigahertz is
>holy moly I know what's a DDR, its DUAL SPEED
>le hecking pcie 8 pin connector!! ho boy that something I know, electricty is le scary aye
and so on, this is very sad and it's always a let down when you try to talk about tech with them, you hit a knowledge wall under a minute and you end up talking about coomsuming trash, maybe how changing iphone each year is le bad or how oled burnin is ploy to sell tv but taht's the full extend of their "knowledge" or lack there of.

it's a low IQ thing
if you like technology and high IQ, you end up understanding it

do you really wish you would end up discussing transistors instead of oled/iphones? your criticism makes no sense, a "knowledge wall" is inevitable, you can't possibly think everyone who claims to like technology knows everything about every thing

I write shell scripts mainly to aid in my consoomption.

Not the same user, but it's not about knowing everything. For example how can you be a phone fan for a decade and always keep up with the newest releases, but never created even a hello world app? Or even installed a custom ROM or whatever? The only things you know are the specs you read on the ad page.

I create test suites because I get paid, which means I'm not a NPC which makes me the king amongst apes.
You may admire me and give me the eggs of all 18+ females within your zip code

I would like to talk about CS papers and/or various electronic stuff, you know, the real tech, the actual breakthroughts that make our sutff work, the interesting new development in cyphers in a world with quantum computers, sandboxing, automatas taht describe real-time systems, progresses with io stuff on linux, arm tee implementations, new cuda extensions, the latest mouse switches, http3, the future of bittorrent and so on.
I can talk about stuff with coworkers but I would like to have friends or just random people to talk about it outside work/matrix/discord/irc/mailing lists, I've been doing that for more than a decade and it's getting old...
>your criticism makes no sense, a "knowledge wall" is inevitable, you can't possibly think everyone who claims to like technology knows everything about every thing
there is a huge difference between knowing absolutely nothing like all these youtubers and people who watch them and knowing everything, I obviously don't know everything but I'm curious enough to read papers outside my area of expertise and I keep up with stuff, I don't even spend a lot of time on it, a few hours a week is enough to be knowledgable about a lot of things in tech.
I never watch reviews and never go to manufacturers websites, these things are worthless to judge a product, you can deduce pretty much everything you need to know without them, if that's your only source of informations about products then all you know is extremely superficial, I'm still dumbfounded that these smoothbrains only report average fps and 1% low for gpu, it's just so fucking retarded it shows they don't have the basic knowledge to review hardware parts...

am i being baited? you and the user i was replying to sound an awful lot like what this user is presumably trying to satirize
what's wrong with people claiming to like technology? even if all they know is what DDR and PCIE, or OLED and mAh is, at least it's something. at least they have an basic understanding, at least they don't talk about shit while being completely clueless about it

Only the ones that seethe should be punished
