depends obviously this computer is very old and offers pretty pathetic performance by modern standards but if it still does everything you need it to do there's no need to upgrade
Luke Perry
I would like to play Satisfactory at higher settings desu
Joseph Murphy
if you want to game at all, even relatively light games like satisfactory that PC should be really starring to show its age so by all means why not upgrade
Logan Sullivan
yeah its just I was looking at the prices and everything is so god damn expensive now I got my 7970 for like $400 and now thats entry level
Colton Kelly
thanks, I'll be getting the arctic 34 esports duo then
Henry Price
>manage to buy a used msi rtx 2060 (6gb) for $120 >feel ripped off
what the hell is wrong with me? that thing even works like a charm
GPUs aren't cheap right now but should come down in price over the next month. btw, AMD are at the 7000 series at late this year I'm expecting a 7950XT and a 7970XT halo product
Nicholas Bailey
pricing is fucked but improving steadily if you're budget oriented I'd upgrade before the new GPUs come in fall since I don't expect those to be available at msrp shortly from launch
Nathan Wood
no idea that's a great deal
Isaac Jones
for that price you did very good for 1080p gaming you're set for a few years or even light 1440p it'll do you

>start making a list of upgrades for my pc >definitely have to replace processor, need a new motherboard for that >getting a new motherboard, might as well get new ram >bottlenecking isn't an issue anymore so, I should probably get a new gpu >cpu doesn't come with a cooler, maybe I could double down and watercool it? >gpu should be water cooled too then, but two closed loops in one system is lame, custom loop it is >gpu needs a waterblock installed, also need a pump and tubing >this isn't going to fit in my case anymore, I need a new case >while am at it my keyboard and mouse are falling apart >... down the consoomer spiral we go~
if you've got an old computer where you need to replace the mobo and the gpu you may as well just get a new computer and sell the old one
Jace Hughes
>Not playing the superior Factorio or Dyson sphere program ISHYGDDT
>even relatively light games like satisfactory Not that user but that game is unoptimized trash that runs worse than cyberpunk 2077 once you reach midgame, endgame is a nightmare
>ccpsoft >Plays unreal engine trash like satisfactory >Literal tencent ccpshit
Nolan King
That is pretty much where this is ending. Nothing will be left to salvage from my current pc, it will sit and collect dust for the rest of time. Maybe I will sugardaddy my 3rd world gamer friends. 3060ti is significantly better for the minor price difference, but if you are already looking at a $600 card, you could just save up and get a 3070.
Cameron Sanchez
>the game developed in the middle of china by a guy literally named Mao isn't ccpsoft
avoid the 3060 because the 3060 Ti is so much better for not that much more money the larger memory size of the 3060 is irrelevant, the 3060 has a 192 bit memory bus so nvidia could fit 6 chips on the board and decided to go for 2 GB chips for a 12 GB card, meanwhile the 3060 Ti has a 256 bit bus so it has 8 slots and Nvidia went for 1 GB chips so despite more memory being better all else being equal, all else is not equal, the 3060 has a smaller memory bus and therefore slower memory speeds on top of just being a far slower GPU, being based on the GA106 die instead of the much larger and better G104 used in the 3060 Ti
