Brainlet here

Why does every tech company in the world has to abide to European laws like smartphones having obligatory USB type C charger etc..?

To be marketable in the EU market

How many times did you put your head in your microwave?

Europe is pretty big.

>smartphones having obligatory USB type C charger
why???? usb type A is just fine

With the loss of bongistan, a market slightly smaller than the USA but somewhat bigger than China.
It's too bothersome to have a second production line to save a couple of cents just because bromine and arsenic is legal in China and the US but EU has RoHS.

because in EU we got you by your balls and you do as we say americuck

Why are americans so fucking dumb?

they don't have to. but if they want to sell on the european market, they need to abide by european laws.
and for now, it's still a fairly profitable market

KLEEEE

UOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH

present ass. now!

Least retarded American

the same reason why internet platforms abide by American law no matter where they are in the world, Europe is just the biggest market for physical goods and gadgets, it has twice the population of the US and they're still a lot wealthier than China.

Europe had a gdp comparable to the US. And since most of Europe's wealth comes from developed countries, there's plenty of disposable income (still less than US though). So if you're a tech company, the most important market is the US one, then Europe, then China, although Chinas continuous growth will make them more important in a couple of years (currently, a significant part of Chinas importance is preemptively factoring in their expected growth as Chinas disposable income is still lower than Europe's).
So if one of these three big markets forces certain regulations upon you it's cheaper and easier to adopt them for your entire line up instead of creating a new variant for this specific market. That's why you have to click on on the "accept cookies, button (thanks EU), that's why us studios, actors and athletes suck off the ccp and that's also why Huawei suddenly ceased to exist outside China. Each of these 3 geopolitical powerhouses can throw around their weight and force companies to do what they want.
Fittingly, the weakest of the three (China) has by far the most growth potential, while Europe can look forward to significant growth in eastern Europe by slowly fixing the damage done by the USSR. Meanwhile as the strongest one, the US frantically tries to hold onto its global reach while having massive internal conflicts that are somewhat reminiscent of the late days of the roman republic.
We're truly living in interesting times, especially since Russia just shot itself in the foot.

so they can sell thing in europe, which is a very large market

its cheaper to abide by the standards than set up entirely seperate manufacturing processes, or cop the fines
