Won't be surprised if theres legal reasons for that, where I am we have tons of paper records because we're legally obligated to keep them and store them, we have digital copies of everything but they have effective zero legal value. In theory we can destroy the hardcopies and print out stuff whenever we need a "legal" copy of something. But it's easier just to keep boxes.
