Are free distros worth it anons?

to people who have used the free distros, are they any good? do you feel more private/anonymous or is it a waste of energy

>linux-libre kernel

Nope

no. also stallman wants the opposite of freedom (literally advocates masks and socialism)

Literally just use Debian or Fedora. You can install Linux-libre if you're hyper concerned about a few kernel blobs that don't even load if they're not needed (as would be the case on any hardware these FSF distris would work on) and avoid enabling the non-free repos.

Once you realize you can use any technology you want without worrying about the silly ideological autism of a communist jew, you will be truly 'free'.

Serious question, what's non-free Linux blobs since the Linux kernel is released under the Apache license anyway? It's copycenter, people may bundle it in proprietary software (WSL maybe?).

why can't i connect to the internet

Yes. It soothes the freetardism.

It's free for a reason user.

I use GNU Guix, but with the regular kernel and some firmware. It's quite nice.
Linux kernel is GPLv2, not Apache. The nonfree firmware blobs are not in the kernel, they're in a separate repository called linux-firmware.
>tranny ramblings
Literally fuck off. Microcode is a shitty meme. Hurr durr the FSF didn't like hardware that required proprietary firmware even though someone wrote a replacement a decade later. Proprietary firmware is hard to avoid so might as well give up!
YWNBAW.

Trisquel is honestly the most comfy freetard distribution there is.
A shame it's painfully outdated and packages are literally over 3 years old.

if you have supported hardware then they're the same as other distros, only with no non-free stuff in their official repositories (still nothing stopping you installing non-free stuff otherwise)

oh ps. that is the ONLY reason regular debian is not officially listed as a free distro, the fact it has an optional non-free repo, it's otherwise totally free ootb

debian literally made me go download internet driver manually, because it didn't have a free version included or some such shit. everybody just goes and adds the non-free repos when the network is set up. niggerlicious, honestly.
i installed arch instead

there's an iso available that includes non-free firmware
also there's a fully free version of arch called parabola

maybe so, but i did it 5yrs ago. didn't know about parabola.
i wouldn't want to switch to debian anyway, arch is stable af (even considering the bleeding edge, which I too need).
you are confusing the idea and the person behind the idea who happens to have other ideas. ie you are a retard.

not saying you did something wrong, i USE arch myself as well, have for the last 10 years in fact, it still surprises me how stable it is, considering how lazy the developers are

If you want half your hardware to not work properly, sure

No, it isn't 'totally free ootb'.
They still ship microcode and firmware on their 'deblobbed' kernel and ship the regular version of Firefox and Chromium, which are not free.

>bleeding edge, which I too need
>I MUST OOPDATE!!!!1!

The FSF definition of "free" is absolutely retarded. So, no.

What do you mean?
