What's the difference between sleep, suspend, and hibernate?
Or just have a working battery lol.
Encrypted hibernation works on machine.
i think sleep just turns off the screen, suspend saves your system state to memory, and hibernate saves your system state to your swap space
In every every context I have seen sleep and suspend are the same thing: put the CPU into a low-power idle state, keep refreshing RAM so that execution environment may resume relatively swiftly from where you left off. There are different "levels" of sleep that depend on the hardware and OS support.
Hibernate means to write the entirety of working memory to disk, and fully power down the computer. When you power back up, the full previous state must be read from disk back into memory, and a bunch of other junk goes on to get devices initialized again. This almost always takes longer than resuming from sleep/suspend, but has the benefit that the machine is fully off, and thus the battery is not being drained by constantly refreshing RAM and/or keeping a trickle charge to various other components.
