Why do we care about helping 3rd world nations again? I know they are doing this truly for altruistic reasons so what do they have to gain? They're not gonna try this across the entire continent either because sand storms. Like said, satellite internet already exists and less developed areas have no need for internet speeds anywhere near what this provides. They're creating a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. My guess is that this is some Alphabet Higher-Up’s personal project just so they can say they did it and that they can tell investors they care about less fortunate Nations.
It would also be unnecessary in the us. We already have fiber tables set up basically everywhere, cellular internet, and even satellite internet if your area's connectivity is that shitty.
