Vim user here. What is the best text editor?
I am tired of dealing with init.vim / .vimrc

Jetbrains if you're not a neet

Just did a deep dive on this.

VSCodium overall winner, especially if you want an integrated git GUI or use javascript (LSP installed by default). Quite a lot of shit to turn off though.

Sublime if you want a faster, more minimal experience, but you'll need to grab and LSP and add your paths if you want to use one.

There's some upcoming Rust editors that show promise but they aren't mature yet.

Also Jetbrains is essentially a commercial fork of Eclipse, aka it's slow as shit no matter how many cores you throw at it.

what are said Rust editors

I'm gonna try it out.

Looks very nice actually.

>Intellisense.
>Remote development support by default.
>Extensions.
This could actually replace VSCode with enough adoption.

Sooo... can you only edit Rust with it?

No.
It's a text editor made in Rust, using an actual UI toolkit instead of Electron.

looked at the screenshot
now I'M COOOMMMING

helix editor

what's special about it?
Seems more or less the same as Code/Atom/Sublime

I built it on macos but I can't launch it unless I go to /target/release/lapce.
How do I create an actual shortcut so I can delete the git clone directory

nevermind

shill your own project more why dont you

Nice b8
If not, take your pills,
unless you're just retarded.

it's cleaner.
not too different, but VScode's got more buttons on the side, and a brightly coloured & busy statusbar. Atom has these thick tabs where lapce has sane sizing. It adds up in the end. Shit argument but it's whatever

>blue logo on blue background
who did this

Jetbrains IDEA + IDEAvim plugin + Easy motion plugin + Vim surround plugin + Mapping Caps to escape

nice

>brightly coloured & busy statusbar
you can recolor it.

oh my god nvm. i thought this thing was good, but it's VScode but instead of the features you get DejaVu Sans as the only UI font with no option to change it, a rotated mouse cursor and issues with keyboard shortcuts. opened it again to give a screenshot, it blinked a bit and went black. in short, picrel

Even if he is shilling his own shit, it's FOSS and I'd rather have this board be 100% people shilling their personal open source projects than 10% Microsoft or Apple shills. KYS nigger.

i know. but they decided to ship it blue.

That was not worth it. I built it from source on windows and it's SOMEHOW SLOWER THAN A BLOATED BROWSER TO EDIT TEXT

It's made in RUST yet it's so slow compared to a electron js text editor
