Systemd-boot vs. grub

I switched to systemd-boot for my desktop and I really appreciate how simple and functional it is.

grub is bloated

systemd is better

Does systemd-boot support LUKS FDE?

Yes

Yep, it's very nice.

When you say LUKS FDE, do you mean encrypting the kernel as well? Or do you mean a separate unencrypted boot partition (i.e. still vulnerable to evil maid attacks)?

you can't encrypt /boot with systemd-boot

Who cares if you can't encrypt your friggin' initramfs and vmlinuz files. It's like 100M

systemd-boot is basically You Vil Own Nothing, You Vil Be Happy of bootloaders

Not using (E)LILO in the year of our lord. 2022.

Encrypting your boot partition does not prevent evil maid attacks.

Encrypting them does nothing. What's important is integrity verification, which is done by Secure Boot.

who the fuck cares
take your meds

>a separate unencrypted boot partition (i.e. still vulnerable to evil maid attacks)
Secure boot solves this.

>systemd-boot
>UEFI
No thanks, I'll keep using syslinux and MBR

>no GRUB_INIT_TUNE
ngmi

efistub + efibootmgr is all you need

>no snapshot integration
It's useless

systemd-boot is extremely easy to integrate with snapshots. Just drop a small file into the boot entries list for every snapshot.
