The game industry's biggest problems are certainly not technical.

When will Putin annex Poland?

By letting shitty engines die? The latest version of REDengine didn't even have basic functionality like occlusion culling and path finding at the time of Cyberpunk's launch. Whatever they did, they totally gutted the engine of features that should be available "out of the box" and then all quit, leaving it to newbies. If the reporting is true then similar things happened with Frostbite, except Frostbite is just an unintuitive trash heap of an engine that teams outside of DICE sweden couldn't figure out how to use even if it is technically sound. All of the studios that were forced to use it ended up fucking up badly because they had no idea how it worked and it wasn't easy to use. In fact, DICE even said so themselves when they said they wouldn't release a modkit or map editor for BF3 and 4, saying that the engine was too complex

>By letting shitty engines die?
But they will just create a new shitty engine, without realising what made their old one shit

Or they'll just do what everyone else is doing and use Unreal Engine 4/5

No they won't, how long have you been playing video games? 20 years ago there were dozens of game engines commonly being licensed.

People should start writing their own games. It's more fun than playing others' games anyway.

holy fuck no theyre going to ruin it fucking retarded women. cybertranny was enough plz no

>how do we save the game engine industry??
by not using godot
>But they will just create a new shitty engine
i would rather create my own than pay money to epic or whoever for licensing.

By being like FromSoft. Keep using your outdated engine and make AAA studio devs seethe as you smoke behind your CRT monitors and raugh.

there is no need for engines more advanced than source/ue3

>game engine industry
>engine

They need to chill on all the fancy graphics. After a certain point it just doesn't matter.

>EldenShill

As it stands that game has been on the market for about a month at this point and STILL haven't fixed invisible horse or the fucking fps dips.

>the fucking fps dips.
Thats apparently a windows driver problem.
It doesn't happen on Linux with the latest Proton.

GTA SA was developed on rendeware and was better than cyberpunk in many aspects. Maybe their engine is just shit and they were wasting more time with patchwork than anything.

You mean on Deck, since valve already compiled the shaders and shipped them.

CD Projekt Red have jumped the shark with cyberpunk
They're another cashgrabbing studio sitting on their laurels now

the pricing model was a lot different in the 90s and 00s as well. it's not affordable because you pay 5% royalty fees for the usage of the Unreal engine AT MOST.

This will have a big impact, it's technically a monopoly

CDPR can literally choose at any time to allow third-party devs to use REDengine, or better yet, they could open-source it to the community. But they won't. They'll abandon it and leave it in a dark ocean trench that will become its final resting place.
