How stable has linux been in your experience?

I haven't had a crash in the last 2 years while primarily using Manjaro.

I haven't had a crash in the last 2 hours while primarily using Lubuntu.

windows 11 is more stable than debian 11 and thats saying something

Mint froze up once when I first started using Linux 2 years ago, but I'm pretty sure I caused it myself by messing around with stuff I didn't really understand. Arch and Debian have yet to crash on me.

people really do just go online and make up blatant lies in hopes of (You)'s

never had a kernel panic
never had X11 crash
never had apt fuck up
debian sid btw

The only reason I've had things crash is because I was doing something fuck-y.

I tried to use a really outdated project and it crashed my system on close, only one I had.

I only had problems with kernal updates and it's typically something to do with my GPU and SystemD
I don't want to use that shit anymore it's too unstable and I can't even have it live next to windows due to the parasitic nature of windows updates.
God I hate having to use both operating systems

Only had crashes caused by my dodgy GPU
Good operating system, great job Finland

>coompile something big
>suddenly all RAM is used, swapping begins and system comes to a near halt
>switch to a virtual terminal
>takes two minutes to switch
>after 5 minutes have logged in
>in 10 minutes manage to type in commands to kill your web browser
>frees enough memory so compilation can resume at normal speed
What I learned is that swap doesn't really help.

>play Quake
>full screen
>accidentally use some keyboard shortcut or whatever that makes your DE go haywire
>audio buffer starts repeating
>screen, mouse and keyboard freezes
>can't get to a virtual terminal
>can still ping the PC on LAN
Guess it didn't really crash, other than the GUI as a whole. Maybe I should enable SSH access for these situations.

besides my panel deleting itself once, nothing bad has happened

very

I haven't stayed on a distro long enough to have a 'crash'

2 rupees, lying pajeet.

in the last 10 years i can count on one hand the amount of times my system has shit the bed, unless youre just blindly doing shit on linux you wont really have many problems.

apart from ubuntu and debian(stable release) nothing.

A year ago I was oomed by firefox. Free memory went to 0. And I have a lot of ram since i do product photography. No crash since I did apt purge firecocks && apu install chromium on my deb stable

>apu install chromium

Usually fine until a major update or trying to change/remove large packages and the PM fucks up dependencies

loonix is slow and DE is laggy
freetards told me that loonix was fast

Let's just say... "it works on my machine".

Outside of hardware failures I haven't seen a PC crash in the last decade be it windows or loonix.

No major issues since I started using Arch 1 year ago
I've had issues with my touchpad gestures but that's about it

I run Mint Linux for campaigns, and the uptime on it is 480 days right now. It's never been shutdown once. If you don't run anything stupid on it, it's very stable.
