16:9 flagship tablet

>16:9 flagship tablet

Why is Samsung and every other tablet manufacturer so damn stupid for so long? WHY do they insist on this resolution on something that isn't a fucking TV?

Because they're media consumption devices and like it or not, all modern media is 16:9

The market has regulated itself.

This.

Even Apple is steering away from the 4:3 aspect ratio and inching toward 3:2. Eventually they'll go full 16:9 and probably 21:9 at some point.

muh black bars on muh videos

>laptops moving back to 16:10 and also embracing 3:2
>monitors making 21:9 more standard
>tablets are mostly all 3:2
unironic whitepill. If you told me this 10 years ago I wouldn't believe you.

capitalism is a race to the lowest viable product
making everything 16:9 is standardization and makes design and production cheaper

Recommend me a good tablet for under 500 dollarydoos please.

save up another $100 and get the iPad air

My S2 is from 2015 and still runs perfectly with the latest Lineage. They go for only $120 on ebay. I'd buy one new if I could.

> not a TV
What is it then?

16:9 is the final redpill. I hate seeing black bars on the sides of videos, and I don't want to trim from the top and bottom to get something to fill the screen (if I watch a movie filmed on ultra wide lenses or whatever that is.) 16:9 video above 480p scales relatively well on TVs with image smoothing (I don't mean motion smoothing.) I fill the black bars using a technique I developed and only lose like 3-5% of the top and bottom to fill the entire area, I'm using lens distortion to fight the black bars and 4:3 videos the easy to deal with on 16:9. I don't want to look at black bars, and black bars should be filled with relevant colors/blur to reduce OLED burn in.

Because the crowd that wants to be 'productive' on a tablet (and would want an aspect ration other than 16:9) goes for iPads.
Samsung works with the assumption that their tablets are first and foremost for media consumption, that's why they work so hard on making their displays and speakers as good as they can get them.

???

All the Tab S8 tablets are 16:10

14.6" tablet

>resolution
nice bait if not just retarded

>black bars should be filled with relevant colors/blur to reduce OLED burn in
my sides

Most of the big memetubers have already migrated to 18:9.

My autism commands it, user, I hoard music videos, and old shows/movies for when shit hits the fan.

some of us aren't consoooomers. 95% of the time I'm reading and browsing the web. Yes, I will watch a video, but that's fine if it's in portrait mode on my 4:3 aspect ratio tablet. because it takes up half the screen, whereas a 16:9 tablet, it takes up 1/6th on the top if it's in portrait. the videos are no longer than 10 minutes long, and the rest of the time i'll go back to browsing and reading. IF I WAN'T TO SIT DOWN FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR WATCHING A SHOW, I'LL USE MY TV FOR THAT

16:10 is still shit.
