Why hasn't hard drive technology improved much for more than half a deacde?

Who need improvement when you can't see the same shit to retards?

10 years ago I was convinced that by 2022 computers will come standard with 50+ TB of storage. At the very least 20TB.

I am so disappoint and disgusted at the world today when even 1TB is still considered hot shit because muh SSD.
FUCK YOU

More space is not required
More speed is better

>More space is not required
>just use our Streaming services goy for only $19.99/mo for each
>just store your data in Da Cloud goy for only another $19.99/mo

Yeah, how about you eat shit instead?

MUCH MORE SPACE IS REQUIRED AS STANDARD

just need more platters

Provide a list of features and improvements that you would like to see implemented and provide a basic outline of how you believe that could be achieved.

I have a 10TB NAS and it's nearly full with JAV. I need more space.

>two dimensional microwave assisted magnetic recording
>20tb hard drives without SMR
>300MB/s
>"not improved much"

I have a pair of 1tb hdds with borked sectors. Is there any way I can salvage the things and like somehow only force write on the safe sectors even if that means partitioning and lowering total capacity? Would rather have a drive with less capacity than no drives at all

No one considers 1TB hot, you are deranged. Thankfully 50TB isn't the standard, because that would mean overall bloat would have gotten so much worse so much faster.

Has anything at all improved in the last decade? Not just technology - literally anything?

hard to go forwards when the manufacturers are actively making shit worse and not telling anyone about it

It's true, that wouldn't even hold all that many. If you want to have a good JAV archive you need to be dealing in at least 100TB minimum.

I read much more than I write. SMR is worth it.

Realism is overrated, I have more fun playing super mario world.

>today when even 1TB is still considered hot shit
No, it's not, lol.
I have like 12TB of storage, total, and I'm not even trying.
The problem is that rates of growth tend to slow down. To squeeze more data onto the same size platter, the read/write heads need to get smaller and more precise in their operation, and this just doesn't progress at a consistent rate.
