>NEWS AMD confirms RDNA3 GPUs are set for 2022 with Zen4 RX 6500 XT is a bust except in PCIe 4.0 systems RTX 3050 is fucked for price R7 5800X3D (2Q2022) Intel Arc desktop GPU (2Q2022)
Don't waste your time building a PC right now. Prices are fully retarded. This is a good time to get into a different hobby.

I want to get into gayming but also I only use linux, I don't know if I should get a RTX 3060 or RX 6600. I hear that high end AMD cards are shit compared to Nvidia, but is this a general thing or just in Windows?

Just got a new processor (10600KF), motherboard (Z590-Manlet), and CPU cooling fan (Arctic Alpine) CPU fan had 'pre installed thermal paste' but reading the temperatures I don't quite trust it. I've almost hit 90 C on a benchmark. Should I get the old paste off and apply this MX-4 I have handy, or just try re-seating the fan?
Andrew Bell
Do people build pc as a hobby? Wtf thats expensive as fuck. I build one every 5-7 years when I need one.
Ryan Bennett
That's a shit cooler, probably not an abnormal temp

what is best GPU to run minecraft at 720p

Posted in the stupid questions thread but it's specific enough that I'll ask here too:
Is it retarded to undervolt a 1080Ti to a locked clockspeed of 1683MHz @ 0.792V?
It's a founders edition card that gets ridiculously hot otherwise I've already repasted it as well. With these settings, some game benchmarks and stress tests (furmark) have it equalize at around 78-80C. Fan speed is 48% which is still loud but in the realm of "tolerable" for me. I can get better clocks at higher fan speeds but that thing becomes a jet engine at anything above 60%.
I know I'm missing out on the GPU boost or whatever but when everything is stock the clocks hover around 1500-1600Mhz and the card sits right at 84C. Turning up the fanspeed to earrape levels, it can jump between 1700-1800MHz but still levels out at 84C and again, is loud as fuck.
I find my performance is fine at 1683MHz and this fan speed is okay. For context the PC is right next to my face, can't put it on the ground or anywhere else since I live in a cramped place and it's already a SFF PC.
Why tho? Is it actually as good as a Nvidia card would be on Windows?

this is what's wrong with people >hobby >consuming shit to all the npc's, a hobby is something you create, not gearfagging
Justin Cruz
oh shit, you right. Shoulda checked the cooler performance tier list before I bought
Isaiah Barnes
Long story short nvidia doesn't care about linux and so their drivers are too wonky on linux and also won't open source them to have other people work on them.
Jose Morris
Yeah, but what I'm asking is, are AMD cards actually better on Linux, compared to Windows. Or are they simply not as bad as Nvidia on Linux?
Nathan Gomez
linux gaming is fine these days just use dxvk

What's a good monitor around the 300€ mark? I have been thinking on getting a Gigabyte Technology G27FC since I would use it more for Game/Programming/Editing
I don't see a problem so long as you're satisfied with the performance.

And to add to this, what's a good mouse for big hands?
Sebastian Brooks
is realtek as terrible as people make it seem to be? would go with a 8111H to dodge I225v issues, either that or I219v
Luke Martin
To rephrase what the original user said: In Linux, Nvidia is kneecapped by bad drivers and AMD has just as good driver support as in Windows. AMD is the same either way, Nvidia is worse in Linux, so if you use Linux the preferable option is AMD.
Cute Touhou but please don't respond to drone posts.
Josiah Perry
Oh nonono you were NOT supposed to mention the cooler
Blake Davis
Yes. From my experience you only lose 6-8fps from 2.5ghz.
Josiah Lopez
temps dont matter if running in spec, virtually everything but an nvme ssd can safely throttle down if it gets too hot. If you're thermal throttling you just leave performance on the table or fan noise might annoy you. This temperature will be diff for every component, do your research
