I used to hate Gnome and I used to think XFCE was best, then I had a thing for Cinnamon, then I went back to Gnome. So back then I used to like XFCE, KDE, and Cinnamon because they had the most familiar "Windows-like" interface but that itself is a workflow problem, Gnome IMO has the cleanest and most efficient, albeit rigid, workflow rhythm and organization and I only realized that after trying them all. XFCE is light, KDE is most customizable, Cinnamon is cleanest, and Gnome has best most flow.

GNOME just works™ and I don't think they've done much removal since ~2016, they've actually started adding things. They have a lot of backing now, too.
