Vscode alternative

hey Any Forums
newb here

what are decent alternatives to vscode?

it does just werk for most things but feels bloated.

not good at vim/emacs but willing to learn if that is what it takes

Ask your employer for a Jetbrains license.

i actually do have a jetbrains license. I'll check it out and see if its better.

VSCopium

vscodium

same thing, zero talking to m$ servers

> VS code feels bloated
> Try jetbrains user

>does just werk for most things but feels bloated.
Its not bloated at all
Get back to work and stpp fucking around with useless shit
Its the code that matters, the ide means nothing

Vim is retarted, cant even comment out a line or a block of code easily out of the box

It's basically a webapp AFAIK? so yeah ofc it's bloated. just use nano d00d

>not good at vim/emacs but willing to learn if that is what it takes
then do just that and never look back
install coc-nvim, that alone will take care of most of your language-needs, then you can add debug adapters in it with nvim-dap
you can configure it over time to tailor it to your own tastes, it's fucking magical
keep a git repo to back up your init.vim (config file).

>language-needs
meant language-specific needs

gvim (graphical vim) can be a good alternative. depending on what programming language you use, you'll need to figure out different ways to compile and/or execute your code, like makefiles.

install a coc in your ass, faggot

Use V to highlight your block then I//
It's not hard at all

Vim.

That doesn't work for me, you have to Ctrl-V, not shift-v

neovim

lmao

If you're looking for less bloat neovim is just about your only practical option. Use vim-plug and coc to get your basic completion going, then look on vim-awesome for other plugins
Also vimtutor to actually learn, it's worth the investment

Vimtutor is a joke. Do it, but read the guide thing in :help, or you won't really understand why people use vim.

Feeling bloated is a Any Forums meme. Continue to use VS Code. If you don’t know vim or emacs, setting up a working environment with all the plugins you need to make it a pseudo IDE is a waste of time.

VScode/VScodium if you're a GNU/freetard
vim is good for a terminal-based editor, but the reality is that terminal-based editors suck and mouse-based ones are better

except it's just as bloated but now also broken.
