Alt Tech Cynicism

How can we be sure that all those "alt tech" platforms won't just bend the knee to censorship as soon as it becomes economically profitable for them to do that?

Like, I'm sure youtube/twitter/etc way back in the day, when there wasn't that much money to be made, there was way more freedom in the platform. We just saw recently, like, for instance Telegram (which surely glowed right from the start, but at least it was a place that didn't' ban public channels), banning content to appease german authorities.

just stop using tech, estrogenated male.

People just want to find alternatives to big tech because those suck dick.

It's by not using them.
Fediverse is the only true alternative.

"alt tech" is just big tech for right wingers. what do you think will happen, poltard

FED i verse

Thats just too loud to ignore man

Easy. We have to go back. Social media was always dogshit and we don't need it. We can have forums and personal websites like it used to be.

The clue is in which ones are getting financing from institutional donors. Rumble will undoubtedly sell out and people will wonder how it all went wrong. Then again Gab and Bitchute, the free-speech "puritans", remove content and most importantly are run by retards. The best bet is the ones that at least are clear with what they will ban.
Fediverse would work but in the context of, say, TRTH Social they'll ban/silence users so you'll have the account but not the reach or growth.

yes, (((german))) authorities

any intelligent "alt-tech" service utilizes technologies that are censorship resistant/proof; stuff that's decentralized, utilizes encryption, is open source, and so on. ideally, the platform shouldn't be able to censor shit even if they want to. moreover, unlike youtube & twitter and so on, these platforms tend to market themselves explicitly as free speech platforms, so going back on that down the road seems like a poor idea since that's what everybody is there for in the first place.

that being said, most "alt-tech" platforms aren't intelligent, they're just retarded grifts aimed at magatards who don't understand technology. they just host some shitty twitter clone and utilize the same censorship-prone backbone services as all the other sites that have gotten kicked off the internet. even if the people running them actually DID want a free speech platform, they'd cuck as soon as cloudflare or their host or whatever put the pressure on them

those still exist you moron

This is why it's not poplair anymore. people have become lazy

People largely don't use them anymore because everyone is too busy on nu-web trash sites. The answer isn't to make our own twatter but to stop using it because it's shit.

>. they just host some shitty twitter clone and utilize the same censorship-prone backbone services as all the other sites that have gotten kicked off the internet
This! It's the same shit that happened with Parler.
>oh, let's rely all our infrastructure on platforms that we just know will pull the plug on our services as soon as the first angry mob on twitter appears
>not only that, let's also rely on app stores instead of incentivizing our users to sideload our app, to make sure Google/Apple can ban and exercise pressure on us as well

stop calling it "alt tech" or other dumb fucking labels assigned by those who market against anything any of you try to do yourselves

Forums are walking corpses at best. The ones I frequented only have a thread posted or two every few weeks, most of which are either totally ignored or get deleted by the only moderator who stuck around for breaking some ancient obscure rule that no one cares about.

Parler already did
Until these retards start using libre alternatives (like gnusocial) they will keep having to jump from platform to platform always wondering why the same things keep happening.
Self host or use federated services if you're tech illiterate.
Ultimately the people who bitch about censorship on youtube and twitter and then jump ship to rumble and parler are the same normal fags that ruined the internet in the first place so their failure to supplant these totalitarian cesspools with free censorship proof alternatives is really just one fuck up in a long line of fuck ups.
Meanwhile I selfhost everything and the only censor of what I can say is me even if no one sees it.

>as soon as it becomes economically profitable for them to do that
You mean instantly?
Nobody actually wants a free speech platform, they just want to be the ones who get to do the censoring. And even if they did, they'd immediately regret it because it'd immediately be swarmed with unabashed pedophiles (think MAP Twitter but without the coded language or attempts to ride the coattails woke liberalism) discussing how to lure kids into their vans and foids randomly doling out false rape accusations.

Any that succeed are controlled opposition user, true resistance or whatever you want to call it is not allowed on the internet, not if it's popular anyway.

You know if they told the Hitler spergies to fuck off and made it palpable for normies, it would have survived.
One thing that always makes these "alt social" websites fail. Is that normies are bombarded with Neo-nazi shit as soon as they access the home page.
It is fucking poison to keep Any Forums spergs as your one and only base. They scare off the one base you could hide yourself behind, if you don't want to kick them off.
>BUT IT IS ALL IRONY
Normies do not get IT
>ITS JOKES
NORMIES DO NOT GET JOKES

>How can we be sure that all those "alt tech" platforms won't just bend the knee to censorship as soon as it becomes economically profitable for them to do that?
Parler, Gab, Rumble, and Odysee have already done so. Odysee, in particular, announced they would start instituting censorship, specifically stated that they are NOT a "free speech platform", and hired some pajeet who used to be en exec with TikTok to be the new CEO. Unless you self-host it, it's going to be censored. Get used to it,
