committing things they didn't mean to, or not committing what they wanted,
just generally breaking the repo and then spending an hour to resolve it.
Just use a gui so you can see what you're doing.

Most zoomers know about git, what actually filters them is subversion, mercurial, and anything that isn't git. They only know git so asking them to use those version control systems will fry their little minds.
i work at FAANG and no we dont. nobody in my team touches master. we only merge into it. but then again, my manager is a white man who was a SWE at one point and not a diversity hire.
