This is somewhat tangential but i hope its tolerated

Maybe Zen 4 will make Ryzen worthwhile again

rate my shit

The 6700xt is really the sweet spot for longevity at 1080p and 1440p, but honestly the price over the 6600xt isn't worth it.

Within spec. If it's throttling or loud, make sure the fins and pipes are clean and optimize temps (possibly by undervolting or using reference clocks). It's easy to kill a GPU if you don't completely cover it with paste, so redoing the paste is a last resort in my opinion

Sidenote, this dude is roided out of his mind

Sirs, dumb reddit question. I currently have a ryzen 2200g build (8g ram + 500g ssd). It serves me well (photoshop, light video editing, basic blender). I made the mistake of getting a bottom line MB so the most I can upgrade is to the ryzen 4650g. I'm poor so I'm stuck with a $300 upgrade so I can't get a 3600 ANd a gpu. I could get a 6500xt gpu but neither the motherboard nor the cpu will support pcie4. My question I guess is, should I just max ram and get a m.2 ssd for QOL upgrade? Or decide between gpu or apu upgrade? Greetings from 3rd world

Roger

Is there anything I need to know before I swap GPUs? They're both nvidia and drivers are the same so I assume it's just plug and play but I wanna make sure I'm not missing something

Do you not know who Arnold Schwarzenegger is?

overkill PSU, you can get an 850W gold for 2/3 the price of what you have listed and still have plenty of headroom
SN550 is stealth QLC garbage, get SN750 instead
and i ask this every time I see one, but do you NEED an i9? if it's just for gaming, the answer is no btw.

should be plug and play. just make sure you've got the right power cables and a beefy enough PSU if you're switching to something better.

what about future GPUs? power usages seem to be going through the roof

yes i need an i9, i run lots of VMs/virtualised shit and i'm an sre + backend dev

>what about future GPUs? power usages seem to be going through the roof
only at the ultra high end. the 2080 is a hungry pig already, you'd be pulling barely any more with a 3080.

I'm going from a 960 to a 1650S so same 6 pin and slightly lower TDP ironically, should be fine

good. plug and play away.

He is the aforementioned dude

if you look closely there have been some minor changes :^)
thanks to all the anons that helped... might ask for more help again tomorrow, who knows

anyone with 32 or more gigs of ram, what do you do with it?

I was planning on upgrading to a 5950x, but I noticed the 5800x is $300 cheaper, and I'm not an animator or a rocket scientist, so I probably don't use more than 8 cores anyways. But is a 5800x even worth it if I'm currently using a 3700x?
>inb4 hurrdurr go intel
I spent $200 on this x570 mobo, and I'm gonna ride it to its grave, damn it.

that's still not enough ram to download your mum

128GB, CPU rendering when my 3D smut scenes are too large for my current GPU's memory pool. Yes, I should probably use a different renderer or put more effort into scene optimizing.
