Media Players

What is the best media player currently?

Personally I just always use VLC for my pirated animu and weird formats, while using windows media player for my mp3 and flac music files.
If it works don't fix it but perhaps there are better programs?

mpv is just the best. Since it uses youtube-dl you can pretty much stream anything (from youtube to twitch or even pornhub)

is there any way to make mpv snap the window back into place when you move it too much to the left or right of the screen? basically have the same effect as when you move the video too high up, it'll snap back down, but horizontally

why is mp-hc being overlooked so much these days? it's got everything, and unlike VLC i don't need to write a fucking bat file to shutdown my computer after it's done playing

i only have some problems with my old ass Intel Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express GPU in my 14yo thinkpad
i use --vo=xv to fix it, sure the osc is a bit blurry when i play low res videos and fullscreen them, but i get a lot of performance out of it for being such a shitty GPU.
this is the trade off you pay for having 100% free software.
you can put vo=xv into ~/.config/mpv/mpv.conf too.
i can play ultrawide 1080p movies with such a shitty GPU lol
this looks funny on a 4:3 screen by the way.
