Unironically what the fuck happened to the "calculator industry"...

Unironically what the fuck happened to the "calculator industry"? I went to Walshart last week and I saw all of these new ones with fucking color screens, rechargeable batteries, and all of this other shit like Python functionality that nobody needs. Whatever happened to picrel?

You can still buy the basic ones. Most college bookstores have them for sale.

sir they are just trying to get more money from us by making them look better than the old calculators

Literal definition of Never Obsolete

Are you complaining that there are options provided that aren't 30 years old?

why use calculators when smartphones exist

because fucking 10 year old telephones have 100x more computing power and easier to use UI you absolute fuckwit
>where did the horse and buggy go?

Calculators still have buttons

> 100x more computing power
> 600x shittier software
> 6x slower

>go back to college as old guy
>use old as fuck TI-83 plus from high school
>no one bats an eye
>change desktop theme to windows 98 (high school time)
>"what operating system is that?"

what else could they do?
i have a ti-84+ from 2004 and it still runs like brand new today
for a simple graphing calculator it is perfect

>nobody needs
Speak yourself, mathlet. But these dumbcalcs from ebay, pedophile.

Easy solution for internet security: stop being a pedophile.

In the old days a calculator was a serious tool for crunching numbers and running quick programs of your own making, to assist you in your daily work. Now they are aids meant to go with textbooks.

because a smartphone can do more things than a TI-83(/84/89), and a smartphone connects to the internet
by limiting students to a graphing calculator you generally have a clear idea of what they're using the calculator for and what they actually have to know, with a smartphone you have no idea.

Smartphone calculator apps are generally trash. It's telling that the most popular one out there for Android or iOS is an HP calculator simulator. They perfected the calculator.

I use Graph 89 on my Android phone as I used to use a TI-89 in late high school.

Mega comfy

>what the fuck happened to the "calculator industry"?
phones you retarded nigger

>>what the fuck happened to the "calculator industry"?
>a major step backwards you retarded nigger
wonderful

nigga math is gay

They're even worse than that.
They all have natural textbook input as a selling feature, they're purely toys for students doing low level math courses.

I'll stick to my classic HP thanks. This bad boy even has a serial port.
