Is it the best option for windows?

install gentoo

windows is already backdoored so what’s the point

Good enough

Veracrypt is very good and it also supports double encryption ie container within a container so that you can give a secondary password to someone that is forcing you to do it, so to them it satisfies the requirement that it worked and they still get nothing.

no
but for exfat thumb drives. absolutely

Not really. It's not modern for SSD encryption. But works fine on HDDs. Use bitlocker for system encryption vc for other things.

Doesn't it sacrifice speed or just boot times?

>schizos need not reply

why isnt it good enough for ssds? my boot ssd is the only thing that needs encryption.

I fell for the cross-platform encryption meme and lost some files in my veracrypt containers. What said, bitlocker is good enough on Windows. If you’re on Linux LUKS unironically just works so you can use that instead.

How did you lose the files? Currently using a container for all my sensitive backups

what are the chances law enforcement breaks into bitlocker vs veracrypt encrypted drives?

>install veracrypt
>use long as fuck password to encrypt your anime porn
>windows just stores it in its TPM
>glowies just have to ask Bill-Kun to get access to your keys
lmao

I don’t know, one day I just noticed I’m missing some files in random folders across a container. Probably something corrupted, but I haven’t managed to figure out what exactly happened. If I were you I’d move those files into either a bitlocker or a luks encrypted drive immediately.

but bitlocker is closed source and probably backdoored? why is it so much better than an open source program?

read again, illiterate

bitlocker is reliable and you’re using veracrypt on a backdoored closed source operating system anyway. does it matter?

My only issue with that is i'm paranoid about data loss so I store the container on multiple thumb drives and in a couple cloud storage places. Is it better just to make an encrypted zip file instead?

I already told you what’s better

>does it matter?
yes.

Use BitLocker for system drive and VeraCrypt for containers inside and other drives.
Other wise encrypting system partition and system boot partition by VeraCrypt gives you higher chance to damage Windows boot partition and never see your files any more, unless you're Osama bin Laden and gain 0.00001% security in case CIA has a BitLocker backdoor and no VeraCrypt and it makes a difference for you

pretty good. I'm still running truecrypt because the glowniggers can lick my taint
